Profile

The inspiration behind Goldie Lookin' Chain's 'Half Man Half Machine', Gregory (or Greg Lah to his friends and 'the ladies') has had a troubled life of woe and challenges.

Things started badly for Greg by being born in 'The North'. Without gas, electricity and light, the Farrars struggled through the early eighties surviving on Pie, Owt Moist, Kes and Oil Lamps. With poverty being so rife in 'The North', one can imagine Greg's delight when, at the age of five months, the old man Farrar presented the lad with his first 1965 Les Paul limited edition. To afford this, the Farrars had to move into the coal shed but they struggled on, listening to Greg's early renditions of such not-even-written-yet classics as The Pet Shop Boys 'It's A Sin', Scissor Sisters 'Don't feel Like Dancing', and Erasure's 'Give A Little Respect'.

Flirting with other skills such as Gnome Throwing, Scottish Midget Boxing and Removing Wings From Pretty Butterflies, Greg picked up a bat for the first time in 1973, a good six years before he was born. Often found in the garden playing with his dad, Greg was soon learning his cover drive from his square cut and was soon propelled into the Brighouse Fourth Ladies XI where his love of cricket and Warrens were paired together for the first time.

An avid support of Liverpool and effortless pulling alike, Greg Lah can often be found parked up in his van at Grafton Water listening to the angry tones of Alan Green whilst flicking his interior light on and off.

It's this type of bravado that will see Greg challenge his fellow predsters all the way!
